Care for God's Creation

Caring for God's creation is my favorite Catholic Social Teaching. This means more than being loving towards every human. We should also be respectful to everything from tiny fire ants to the large oceans on Earth. There are many ways we can all do something to protect God's creations.
Pollution is a major problem for God's creation of Earth and everyone and everything in it. One way I prevent land pollution is by recycling. Recycling items, such as paper, can reduce the number of trees cut down. Air pollution can be reduced by using cleaner cars that give out fewer harmful emissions. You could also use the less expensive method of riding a bike or walking instead of driving to nearby places. If everyone did these things, the world would be a better place for humans and animals alike.
Animals have a right to be treated fairly. Sadly, many animals are mistreated today. If you stumble upon an injured animal, you should call for help so that the animal can recover and be released (i.e. local humane society, wildlife sanctuary, or veterinarian). We should care for animals' habitats, too. When we clear forests to make buildings or roads, we could be destroying their habitats. Developers should keep some land set aside for animals.
In conclusion, we should all be kind to our planet. St. Francis of Assisi is an excellent example of a caretaker of God's creation. He respected and loved everything that was made by God. So remember: go green and don't be mean!
